Fruit Attraction 2025 in Madrid: Scientific exchange at the heart of the international fruit and vegetable trade fair
Madrid, Spain – From 30 September to 2 October 2025, the leading international trade fair Fruit Attraction 2025 took place at the IFEMA Madrid exhibition centre. Among the numerous trade visitors from all over the world was Dr Dergham, who made targeted use of the fair for scientific and technical exchange with manufacturers and suppliers.
The fair is considered one of the most important platforms for the global fruit and vegetable trade and once again recorded a record number of visitors this year, with over 120,000 professionals from 150 countries and more than 2,460 exhibitors from 64 nations. Ten exhibition halls showcased new products, technological innovations and sustainable solutions for the entire value chain.
Technical exchange and scientific discussions
Dr Dergham used the three days of the trade fair to hold intensive discussions with leading manufacturers and suppliers in order to find out about the latest developments, production methods and technological solutions. The focus was particularly on scientifically based aspects of product quality, shelf life, logistics and the use of new packaging technologies.
‘Fruit Attraction offers a unique environment for experiencing innovations in the agricultural sector first-hand and conducting in-depth technical discussions directly with developers and producers. For us, it is crucial not only to be aware of the latest developments, but also to understand them in detail and question them critically,’ said Dr Dergham after his visit to the trade fair.
Key topics: sustainability and technical optimisation
During his visit, Dr Dergham focused on innovative solutions for sustainable agriculture, organic plant protection, climate-friendly logistics and scientifically optimised post-harvest treatment, among other things. He showed particular interest in new technologies for sensory quality measurement and traceability of fresh produce – topics that are becoming increasingly important for retailers and consumers.
Insight into international markets
The international orientation of the trade fair also provided a broad insight into the product diversity and innovative strength of a wide variety of markets – from Europe to Latin America, North Africa and Asia. This diversity formed the basis for exciting comparisons and technical analyses with regard to the quality, efficiency and environmental compatibility of the respective production systems.
Conclusion: Technological progress requires informed exchange
Dr Dergham gives a thoroughly positive assessment of his visit: ‘The direct dialogue with producers, developers and experts was extremely valuable. Trade fairs like this are indispensable for translating scientific findings into practical applications and working with partners to develop solutions for the challenges of tomorrow.’
With his successful visit to Fruit Attraction 2025, Dr Dergham emphasises the need for continuous scientific and technical exchange in order to actively shape innovations in the agricultural sector and promote sustainable development in a practical manner.
