Glossary - Stable Humus

Stable Humus

Stable humus is permanent and combines with the soil minerals. It contains a supply of nutrients that are gradually released (old fertility). Stable humus makes light soils more plastic and increases their water-holding capacity; makes heavy soils more porous, improves aeration and their warning up; it forms the crumbly structures of the topsoil.
