Heavy Metals

Elements with high molecular weights which are generally toxic in low concentrations to plant and animal life. Those metals wich have densities >5,0 Mg m-3
  • Main heavy metals accumulating in the soil are: Boron, Cadmium, Chromium, - Mercury, Nickel and Lead. They are found generally in industrial and urban muds and in garbage sludge.
  • It is dangerous for men and animals to consume plants accumulating heavy metals.
  • Phytotoxicity is made by roots' direct contact or by absorption.
